Save my skin, I need a medic
Hold me down, I'm only sewn down.
Save my teeth, show me you meant it
Catch my death, I'm only sewn together.
this last time I'll be there beside you despite all that I've said
there's meaningless, meaningless things to do a life to live instead
and each day seems the same to me but harder all the time
until I turn to Jesus, my love, my peace, I find
My eyelids are heavy, and the night's wearing on
Your story's familiar, and your innocence is gone
We'd burn like the morning then break like your heart
Fall in love without warning just to fall back apart
All fevered and blistered, the whole world at stake
I feel the warmth of her whisper and the cold of my mistakes
Her soul in the balance, my heart in her hands
I made her a widow, she made me a man.

Musically this feels more experimental for La Dispute reminding me of their Here, Hear releases. Very atmospheric and easy to lose your self in. Perfect for the next time you’re contemplating your existence. (Also found out the guitarist builds his own pedals and used them on this record; neato!) Mikey

Julien Baker is an acquired taste - assuming of course you’ve acquired great taste in singer songwriters… beautiful, devastating, honest, insightful… I’ve not heard a single song of hers that hasn’t left me in absolute awe. crisbroadhurst
